Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Madawaska

Madawaska lost to Hodgdon back in May of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Owls came out on top against the Hawks by a score of 5-2. That's two games straight that the Owls have won by exactly three runs.

Isaac Beaulieu was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Madawaska is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 2-5 otherwise. Beaulieu was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

In other batting news, Ian Albert was excellent, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Josh Querze was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

The win was the third in a row for Madawaska, bringing their record up to 7-5. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Hodgdon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Hawks beat Madawaska by a score of 2-1 later that day.
