You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Hays's strategy against Liberal on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Hays Indians blew the Liberal Redskins out of the water with a 67-30 final score. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while the Redskins are ranked 239th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Liberal still got an impressive performance from James Fieser, who posted 16 points and five boards. Adrian Moreno-Gonzales was another key player, putting up five points.

The victory made it two in a row for Hays and bumps their season record up to 9-7. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points over those games. As for Liberal, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-15.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hays will welcome McPherson on Monday. One thing working in McPherson's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games. Liberal will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Garden City on February 25th.
