Basketball Recap: Noah Fowler Key Part of a Team Effort in Tigers Win

It was a proper cat-fight when Straughn took on Opp on Thursday. The Straughn Tigers walked away with a 53-45 win over the Opp Bobcats. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Tigers also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.

Straughn's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Noah Fowler, who went 5 of 7 en route to 17 points. That's the most points Fowler has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Clark Gay, who posted eight points and six boards.

Opp's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of DJ Hines, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds, and Jeshurun Crittenden, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 15 points in addition to five boards and four steals. Hines has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times he's played. Conner Powers was another key player, putting up five points and six assists.

Straughn's victory bumped their record up to 9-13. As for Opp, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-9.

Straughn wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 41-29 win against Bullock County on the 13th. Opp has also already played their next game, a 54-43 victory against Geneva County on the 10th.
