Cannon will look to defend their home turf on Friday against Forest Hills at 7:00 PM. It might come down to the wire as the MaxPreps rankings project a close game.
Cannon might be getting used to good results now that the team has three wins in a row. Last Friday, they narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Concord First Assembly Academy 21-18. No one put up better numbers for Cannon than senior Gabe Ortiz, who brought his A game into the match. He rushed for 164 yards and 1 touchdown. If you haven't heard Ortiz's name lately, then you haven't been paying much attention: he has loomed large in their past three games.
Meanwhile, after flying high against East Montgomery two weeks ago, Forest Hills came back down to earth. Forest Hills were completely outmatched, falling 14-54 to Mount Pleasant. Forest Hills were in a tough position by the half, with the score sitting at 7-28.
Cannon's win lifted them to 4-5 while Forest Hills's loss dropped them down to 2-7. We'll see if Cannon can repeat their recent success or if Forest Hills bounce back and reverse their fortune.
