Even though the Central Blue Devils have not done well against the Seton Hall Prep Pirates recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Central narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Seton Hall Prep 61-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Malik Bass, who scored 13 points along with eight assists. Another player making a difference was Michael Anderson, who scored 16 points.
Central pushed their record up to 1-0 with that win, which was their third straight at home dating back to last season. As for Seton Hall Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central will be home for the holidays to greet Academy Charter at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Seton Hall Prep will be home for the holidays to greet East Orange Campus at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
