5A East Metro recap September 17, 2013
Lincoln's Dominick Aragon recorded the longest rushing play in 5A East Metro this season in his game against Denver North last week. Aragon scampered for 94 yards on the play and finished with 94 on the day as his team defeated the Vikings.
Prairie View moved up to 50 from 85 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Thunderhawks were able to make move up by topping Overland 40-22.
Thornton's dynamic duo of Marcus Del Hierro and Demitri Montour proved tough for Adams City to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Del Hierro threw for 240 yards and 4 touchdowns and Montour had 163 yards receiving. Alec Aguilar helped Thornton's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 37 yards.
The Trojans' dynamic duo of Del Hierro and Montour proved to be unstoppable against the Eagles, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Del Hierro put up the best numbers in passing as Thornton bested Adams City.
Tanner Pepin was a passing and rushing force as Brighton lost to Rocky Mountain. He completed 10 passes for 175 yards and also ran for 84 yards. Pepin's favorite target this week was Tristin Wells, who caught 5 passes for 123 yards.
He was 10-22 with 1 interceptions.
Cole Barone was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 163 yards on 19 carries as Prairie View bested Andy Payne's team. Ben Meraz also contributed to the rushing game with 111 yards on the ground.
Montour was the best wideout in 5A East Metro this week as the Trojans beat the Eagles.
The leading receiver in the league this season is Montour. The Thornton star has 16 catches for 325 yards.
Northglenn fell to Horizon 52-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Art Toledo was a bright spot for the Norsemen, as he threw for 165 yards in the defeat.
