John Luke Houston was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.
Houston wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ben Simons, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
University is on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Coal Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 25-2-1.
