Shea has gone 8-2 against Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Pawtucket will square off against the Knights at 4:30 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Shea has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Central will arrive with four straight wins.
Shea is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Cranston East, who was ranked 19th at the time (Shea was ranked 24th). The Pawtucket lost 10-4 to the Thunderbolts on Monday.

Taylor Kane was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and nine unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI.
In other batting news, Gianna Quinones made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Central hadn't done well against Davies Career & Tech recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Knights were the clear victors by a 22-7 margin over the Patriots. Considering the Knights have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Central's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Shea, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Shea hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .318. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Shea's way against Central in their previous matchup back in March, as Shea made off with a 15-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pawtucket since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
