Olivia Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Kady Long made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.
Meanwhile, the third road matchup was the charm for Hoggard, as they earned their first road win of the season. They skirted past North Brunswick 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Vikings have posted since March 12, 2024.
Macey Ciamillo made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Ciamillo was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season.
In other batting news, Sophie Gee was excellent, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3. Those stolen bases marked the first that she snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Demetriou, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.
West Brunswick's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Hoggard, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Hoggard's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: West Brunswick has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .442. It's a different story for Hoggard, though, as they've only averaged .308. Will they be able to contain West Brunswick's hitters?
West Brunswick suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Hoggard in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can West Brunswick avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
