The Indian Springs Thunderbirds will head out on the road to challenge the Beatty Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Indian Springs has ten straight wins, Beatty has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, Indian Springs was able to grind out a solid victory over Tonopah, taking the game 37-28.
Indian Springs' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Oriyah Clay led the charge by scoring nine points along with 12 rebounds and four steals. Clay is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Celina Pena, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and seven steals.
Beatty suffered their biggest defeat yet this season last Friday. They were beaten by Tonopah 49-9. Beatty was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-6.
Indian Springs' win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-2. As for Beatty, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.
Everything came up roses for Indian Springs against Beatty when the teams last played on January 5th as the squad secured a 49-11 victory. With Indian Springs ahead 31-5 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
