Midland is 3-0 against the Hornets since December of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Midland Mustangs will be playing at home against the Harrisburg Hornets at 6:30 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with eight consecutive losses for Midland and three for the Hornets.
Last Tuesday, Midland took a serious blow against the Bears, falling 70-41.
Meanwhile, Harrisburg suffered their closest defeat since November 14, 2023 on Thursday. They fell just short of Rivercrest by a score of 57-54. While losing is never fun, Harrisburg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 265th, while the Colts are ranked 49th).
Despite the loss, Harrisburg had strong showings from Axel Heeb, who scored 21 points, and Jayvin Thompson, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. It was the first time this season that Thompson scored 15 or more points. Eastin Gray was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds.
Midland dropped their record down to 2-15 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Harrisburg, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-21 record this season.
Midland didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the Hornets in their previous meeting back in November of 2021, but they still walked away with a 51-46 victory. Does Midland have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
