Football Recap: Cooper Piles Up the Points Against Highlands

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Cooper had no problem doing just that on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Highlands Bluebirds 61-23. Considering the Jaguars have won 12 contests by more than 24 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Cam O'Hara was his usual excellent self, throwing for 285 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.4 yards per attempt. He has been hot, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last five times he's played. 120 of O'Hara's passing yards were hauled in by Isaiah Johnson, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Cooper wouldn't let Highlands keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force four fumbles. It was truly a group effort as Isaac Brown, Carson Clark, Dominic Willhite, and Austin Alexander picked up one apiece. The dominant performance also gave Brown a new career-high in interceptions (two). Another thorn in Highlands' side was Max Wethington, who made 13 total tackles (1.0 for loss).

Cooper's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34.3 points. As for Highlands, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-3.

Cooper has already played their next matchup, a 37-20 loss against Bowling Green on the 7th. Highlands does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
