The Midland Mustangs will challenge the Hillcrest Screamin Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Midland has three straight wins, Hillcrest has ten straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Friday, Midland got the win against Augusta by a conclusive 23-7. Considering the Mustangs have won seven matches by more than ten runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Madelyn Jefford and Haylee Meeks made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Jefford tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Meeks struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. At the plate, Jefford fired off three home runs, eight RBI, and four runs while going 6-for-6, while Meeks went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. What's more, Jefford posted two stolen bases, the most she's had since back in March.
