SouthWest Edgecombe is 8-2 against Tarboro since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tarboro Vikings at 5:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Tarboro will be up against a hot SouthWest Edgecombe team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. SouthWest Edgecombe walked away with a 12-9 victory over Faith Christian on Monday.
Connor Wolfe and Parker Gay made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Wolfe tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Gay didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. At the plate, Wolfe scored three runs and stole a base, while Gay went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tyler Mears, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Turner Cooke, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Tarboro gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Rocky Mount with a sharp 18-9 win.
Like SouthWest Edgecombe, Tarboro also got a great game from a two-way player: Cole Craddock. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. That's the first time Craddock hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Mason Satterfield was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-6. Rome Day was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI.
SouthWest Edgecombe's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Tarboro, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Everything went SouthWest Edgecombe's way against Tarboro when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as SouthWest Edgecombe made off with a 15-8 victory. Will SouthWest Edgecombe repeat their success, or does Tarboro have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
