The Captain Shreve Gators will take on the Logansport Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Captain Shreve will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Captain Shreve is returning to their home field after beating Summerfield on theirs, despite the fact Summerfield has dominated at home this season. The Gators walked away with a 6-2 win over the Rebels on Monday.
Ella Hendrick was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kennedi Dixon, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. Anna Grace Stier was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Logansport made easy work of Ebarb on Monday and carried off a 9-3 victory. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 18 contests by six runs or more this season.
Kennedi Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up ten Ks.
On the hitting side, Abbie Kate Forrest and Anna Atkins did most of the damage at the plate: Forrest scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Atkins scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Forrest a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Marianna Roberts, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Logansport always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Logansport pushed their record up to 21-11 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Captain Shreve, their win bumped their record up to 20-13.
Captain Shreve suffered a grim 20-5 defeat to Logansport in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can the Gators avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
