The Curlew Cougars put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They took down Cusick 46-30. This was payback for Curlew, who suffered a 52-33 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Curlew's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Doyen, who picked up 114 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Logan Thompson was another key contributor, rushing for 49 yards and three touchdowns.
Curlew's victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-0. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 37 points. As for Cusick, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Curlew will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Wilbur-Creston-Keller at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Wilbur-Creston-Keller knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight games -- so hopefully Curlew likes a good challenge. As for Cusick, they will head out on the road to face off against Wellpinit at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
