North Wake S is 8-1 against South Wake since September of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The North Wake S Saints will be playing at home against the South Wake Lions at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but North Wake S had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past Wake Prep Academy 50-0 at home. The result was nothing new for North Wake S, who have now won seven matches by 34 points or more so far this season.
North Wake S had a senior duo take command as Sema'J Davis gained 146 total yards and three touchdowns and Jordan Reid rushed for 156 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries. Davis was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards.
North Wake S's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB 9.5 times. The heavy lifting was done by Tre Mcintyre and Avery Hall who racked up 4.5 sacks between them.
Even though South Wake has not done well against Hickory H recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. South Wake strolled past Hickory H with points to spare, taking the game 41-27.
North Wake S pushed their record up to 9-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-7 Sandhills T and 2-7 Wake Prep Academy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 24.2% over those games). As for South Wake, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.
Everything came up roses for North Wake S against South Wake when the teams last played back in October as the squad secured a 40-6 win. Will North Wake S repeat their success, or does South Wake have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
