Softball Recap: Plymouth's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Monroeville, Plymouth was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They skirted past the Lucas Cubs 6-4. The victory was some much needed relief for the Big Red as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Madison Montgomery made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. Montgomery was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

Montgomery wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cailynn Bailey, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Plymouth's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Lucas, their record now sits at 3-6.

Coming up, Plymouth will take on Willard at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Crimson Flashes have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.27 runs per game on average), something the Big Red will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lucas, they will face off against Bucyrus at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cubs are facing the Redmen at the right time seeing as the Redmen are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
