The East River Falcons will venture away from home to take on The First Academy Royals at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. East River is coming into the game hot, having won their last eight games.
East River is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Edgewater with a sharp 18-0 win on Wednesday. Considering the Falcons have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Talisa Soto was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 13 consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Katherine Sanchez was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tru Mastro, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
East River was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .762. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .324 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for The First Academy's offense. They came up short against Apopka on Tuesday, falling 16-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Royals have suffered since March 14th.
East River's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for The First Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. East River hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .409. However, it's not like The First Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .321. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
