This season hasn't been kind to the Oberlin The Phoenix , who are still winless after their fourth match. They took a 55-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Firelands on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Oberlin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 641st, while Firelands is ranked 211th).
Oberlin lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Carmello Williams, who scored 14 points. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Korrie Freeman, who scored 11 points.
Oberlin bumped their record down to 0-4 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Firelands, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-1.
Oberlin will be home for the holidays to greet Keystone at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Keystone focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday. As for Firelands, they will head out on the road to face off against Wellington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
