The Sabine Cardinals were the 36-22 winner over the West Rusk Raiders when they last played one another on Friday, but their luck changed this time around. Sabine was just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 43-42 to West Rusk. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Sabine came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 450th, while West Rusk is ranked 914th).
Keke Murphy was the offensive standout of the match as she scored 14 points along with 6 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of West Rusk's points. Another player making a difference was Gabby Coleman, who scored 9 points along with 9 rebounds.
Sabine's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for West Rusk, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7.
Sabine will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Queen City at 5:00 p.m. West Rusk's road trip will continue as they head out to face East Texas Homeschool Sports at 3:30 p.m. on December 2nd.
