Holmes has gone a perfect 8-0 against Bertie recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Aces will head out on the road to square off against the Falcons at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in Holmes' favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
If Holmes beats Bertie with 20 runs on Monday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Everything went the Aces' way against Northeastern on Tuesday as they made off with a 20-2 win. Considering the Aces have won seven contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Maddox Bass made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Myles Cobb was incredible, going 4-for-5 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Darius Oliver, who went 2-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI.
Holmes kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Bertie narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past North East Carolina Prep 4-2. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Husky recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Tayvien Ward and Michael Thompson, III did most of the damage at the plate: Ward went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Thompson, III went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Braiden Ambrose also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Holmes has been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Bertie, their record now sits at 7-13.
Holmes took their win against Bertie when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 14-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Aces since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
