The Wasatch Wasps will face off against the Cedar Valley Aviators at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Things were looking good for Wasatch after they put the first points on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 10-6 to Orem. The Wasps have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Liana Jones was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 12 matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Mali Evans, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Cedar Valley entered their tilt with Lone Peak on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Knights. The result was nothing new for the Aviators, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
Eva Okusi was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Alexis Jenson, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Cedar Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Cedar Valley's win bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Wasatch, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Wasatch hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Cedar Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .429. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Wasatch's way against Cedar Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Wasatch made off with a 10-2 victory. Does Wasatch have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cedar Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
