The Como Park Cougars were the 77-62 winner over the Roosevelt Teddies when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Como Park might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 81-76 to Roosevelt, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Roosevelt to victory, but perhaps none more so than Obie Esparza, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Calvin Peterson was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with five rebounds.
Como Park has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Roosevelt, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Como Park's road trip will continue as they head out to face Highland Park at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th. Highland Park knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Como Park likes a good challenge. As for Roosevelt, they will head out on the road to face off against North Community at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
