The Arundel Wildcats put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 69-67 win over Meade. Given Arundel's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Meade is ranked 70th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Arundel's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Noah Frayer led the charge by scoring 17 points along with five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Samson Anjorin, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Meade lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Keon Scott, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Scott has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ashton Turman, who scored 14 points along with six assists and two steals.
Even though they lost, Meade smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Arundel only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
Arundel pushed their record up to 9-0 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.9 points per game. As for Meade, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-3.
Arundel will head out on the road to take on North County at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Meade, they will be playing at home against Broadneck at 6:45 p.m. on Friday.
