Walsenburg is 0-3 against Fowler since October of 2022 but things could change on Friday. The Panthers will look to defend their home field against the Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m.
On Friday, Walsenburg was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 30-24 to Primero.
Walsenburg didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jiovanni Correnti and Julius Garcia.
Meanwhile, Fowler waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They claimed a resounding 50-8 victory over the Farmers. The result was nothing new for the Grizzlies, who have now won four games by 42 points or more so far this season.
Fowler's win came from a few key players Walsenburg will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Bronson Damgaard, who rushed for 125 yards and three TDs on only 14 carries. Fowler is undefeated when Damgaard posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 1-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Adams, who rushed for 84 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven carries.
Fowler didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Hoehne to a completion percentage of just 47.4%. The Grizzlies hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.4 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Fowler's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Wade Clemmensen and William Carnes, who each picked up 1.5 sacks apiece.
Walsenburg's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Fowler, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Walsenburg has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 172 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Fowler struggles in that department as they've been averaging 267.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Walsenburg took a serious blow against Fowler in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 47-12. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Grizzlies' Brock True, who rushed for 170 yards and five scores, and also threw for 108 yards on seven of 17 attempts. Now that the Panthers know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
