Abby Hicks was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and five unearned) runs off 11 hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was even better at the plate, going 4-for-6 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.
In other batting news, LaBelle got a massive performance out of Braulynne Flores, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. What's more, Flores posted two hits, the most she's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Emorie Anderson, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.
LaBelle kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Gateway Charter fell victim to Oasis and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Sharks, falling 17-0. Griffins fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Sharks since on Wednesday.
The victory got LaBelle back to even at 9-9. As for Gateway Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.
LaBelle was able to grind out a solid win over Gateway Charter when the teams last played back in March, winning 7-2. Do the Cowboys/Cowgirls have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Griffins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
