The Elite Scholars Academy Royal Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their seventh straight loss. They took a 56-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mount Paran Christian. While losing is never fun, Elite Scholars Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 478th, while Mount Paran Christian is ranked 194th).
When it comes to explaining why Elite Scholars Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Chase Grant. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points. D?allo Wiley was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Even though they lost, Elite Scholars Academy were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Carter Galbreath was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with seven rebounds for Mount Paran Christian. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Christopher Park, who scored 11 points.
Elite Scholars Academy's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-8. As for Mount Paran Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Elite Scholars Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Callaway at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Mount Paran Christian won't have much time to rest: their next game is against South Atlanta at 7:00 p.m. on December 15th. Hopefully South Atlanta focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Saturday.
