The Morehead Panthers came tearing into Friday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 68-55 victory over T.W. Andrews. Given Morehead's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while T.W. Andrews is ranked 446th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Morehead got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jordan Chandler out in front who scored 14 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Bigelow, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Morehead has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for T.W. Andrews, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Morehead will take on Reidsville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Reidsville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 games -- so hopefully Morehead likes a good challenge. As for T.W. Andrews, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Shining Light Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th. Shining Light Academy is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
