The Althoff Catholic Crusaders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 20 points or more this season. They breezed by Maryville Christian on the road to the tune of 52-25. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-12.
Althoff Catholic was led to victory by Amalia Distler and Emilee Travnicek. Distler scored 12 points along with eight steals and six rebounds, while Travnicek scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. Those eight steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Alaina Lester, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Althoff Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. As for Maryville Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Althoff Catholic will square off against Christ Our Rock Lutheran at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Christ Our Rock Lutheran will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 504th, while Althoff Catholic is ranked 208th). Maryville Christian won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Marissa/Coulterville at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th. Marissa/Coulterville will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
