The Bacon Academy Bobcats will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Wheeler Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Bacon Academy and Montville, and Montville kept the tradition alive. The Bobcats fell just short of the Wolves by a score of 7-6 on Wednesday.

Riley Stolzman was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one double.
In other batting news, Reina Hill made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Gabriella Russo, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Wheeler strolled into their game on Wednesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past Windham 18-1. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won three games by 17 runs or more so far this season.
Like Bacon Academy, Wheeler also got a great game from a two-way player: Victoria Kleeman. On the mound, she didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Kleeman was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Wheeler got a big performance out of Isabella Deledda, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was Deledda's first of the season. Chloe Sanders was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Wheeler pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.4 runs over those games. As for Bacon Academy, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Bacon Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Wheeler struggles in that department as they've been averaging 11 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Bacon Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Wheeler in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. Will the Bobcats repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
