The Valley Heights Mustangs lost against the Troy Trojans on January 5th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Valley Heights took a 56-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Troy. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Valley Heights in their matchups with Troy: they've now lost six in a row.
Leading Troy to victory were Henry Geiger and Gannon Bowe. Geiger dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Bowe scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Bowe hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Jack Hartman was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Valley Heights' loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Troy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.
Valley Heights and Rock Creek will face off on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Rock Creek is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. As for Troy, they will face off against Maur Hill Prep-Mount Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kansas (Maur Hill Prep-Mount Academy is ranked 198th, while Troy is ranked 174th).
