The Chaparral Wolverines will square off against the Ponderosa Mustangs at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Chaparral sitting on seven straight victories and Ponderosa on five.
Chaparral took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Rock Canyon, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wolverines skirted past the Jaguars 3-1.

Beckett Bacon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits. He is becoming a predictor of Chaparral's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 7-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't).
At the plate, Chaparral saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josh McWilliams, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ponderosa). They were the clear victors by a 22-11 margin over Legend on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Isai Santaella was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Hayden Silva was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.
Ponderosa kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.
Chaparral pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Ponderosa, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4.
Chaparral came out on top in a nail-biter against Ponderosa in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. Do the Wolverines have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
