Bethlehem is a perfect 4-0 against North Bullitt since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Eagles/Banshees will face off against the Eagles at 5:30 p.m.
Bethlehem fell victim to Ballard and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Bruins, falling 10-0. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Eagles/Banshees' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Bethlehem saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexis Hume, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Meanwhile, North Bullitt had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Cougars a 15-0 shutout. Considering the Eagles have won five matches by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Amree Hammons and Kylie McRoberts made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Hammons pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, McRoberts tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hammons has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. At bat, Hammons went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while McRoberts went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That stolen base marked the first that Hammons has snagged this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addison Ferguson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two triples, and one stolen base. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Kaigen Kamber was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
North Bullitt was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .593. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in three consecutive games.
Bethlehem has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 20-14 record this season. As for North Bullitt, their record is now 6-10.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bethlehem has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .460. However, it's not like North Bullitt struggles in that department as they've averaged .471. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Bethlehem's way against North Bullitt in their previous matchup back in March, as Bethlehem made off with a 14-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles/Banshees since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
