The Basic Wolves pushed their score all the way to 57 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They received a tough blow as they fell 72-57 to Valley. Basic was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Basic lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Christian Baltierrez, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Edwin Armentero, who scored six points along with two steals.
Even though they lost, Basic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
It was another big night for Elijah Flowers, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and three steals for Valley. Flowers is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in the last ten games he's played. Xavier Shufford was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Basic's defeat dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Valley, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-16.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Bonanza the next time they take the court. Valley will host Bonanza at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while Basic will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
