The Union Knights/Damsels lost against the Clarion-Limestone Lions back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Union took a 56-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clarion-Limestone. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Union in their matchups with Clarion-Limestone: they've now lost five in a row.
Union's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Hayden Smith, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two blocks, and Trent Fleming who scored ten points. That's the first time this season that Smith posted two or more blocks.
Union's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Clarion-Limestone, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-7.
Union will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Redbank Valley at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. Redbank Valley presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Union in Pennsylvania (Redbank Valley is ranked 60th, while Union is ranked 386th). Clarion-Limestone will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Venango Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th.
