The Grace Christian Academy Eagles and the Woodward Academy War Eagles will face off at 4:30 p.m. on December 28th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, The Grace Christian Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering, taking the game 44-32. The win was just what The Grace Christian Academy needed coming off of a 71-45 loss in their prior game.
The Grace Christian Academy found their leader in underclassman Tallie Webber, who scored 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Webber has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Mahkai Seymour, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, even though Osborne scored an imposing 56 points last Saturday, Woodward Academy still came out on top. Woodward Academy enjoyed a cozy 73-56 win over Osborne. Given Woodward Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while Osborne is ranked 141st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Woodward Academy's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Zachary Foster, who scored 16 points along with three steals, and Brandon Peters, who scored 16 points along with five assists and four steals. The contest was Peters' fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Deke Cooper, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
The Grace Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Woodward Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.
Thursday's contest is shaping up to be a blowout: The Grace Christian Academy hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 73.9 points per game. It's a different story for Woodward Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 68.4 points per game. The only thing between The Grace Christian Academy and another offensive beatdown is Woodward Academy. Will they be able to keep them contained?
