The Bucklin Red Aces will be playing in front of their home fans against the Kiowa County Mavericks at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Saturday, Bucklin came up short against Hoisington and fell 54-46. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Bucklin in their matchups with Hoisington: they've now lost four in a row.
Kaden Tilley put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 17 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 steals. He scored a full 37% of Bucklin's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kolson Cook was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
Meanwhile, Kiowa County is still winless after their match against Medicine Lodge on Saturday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. Kiowa County fell just short of Medicine Lodge by a score of 58-56. While losing is never fun, Kiowa County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while Medicine Lodge is ranked 83rd).
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 1-3.
Everything came up roses for Bucklin against Kiowa County when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 68-40 victory. Does Bucklin have another victory up their sleeve, or will Kiowa County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
