Gustine is 0-10 against Orestimba since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Gustine Reds will look to defend their home court against the Orestimba Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Wednesday, Gustine was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 61-56 to Delhi. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Gustine in their matchups with Delhi: they've now lost three in a row.
Meanwhile, Orestimba waltzed into their game on Wednesday with 18 straight wins but they left with 19. They strolled past Le Grand with points to spare, taking the game 78-63. Given Orestimba's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 429th, while Le Grand is ranked 1271st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Blake Melo, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Angel Reynoso was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with two steals.
Gustine's defeat dropped their record down to 8-19. As for Orestimba, their win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-2.
Gustine was dealt a bruising 74-30 loss at the hands of Orestimba in their previous meeting back in January. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Gustine was down 48-7.
