The Woonsocket Villa Novans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They lost to Cumberland at home by a decisive 51-34 margin. Woonsocket has not had much luck with Cumberland recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Woonsocket lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Aaron Kelly, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Kelly grabbed two or more steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Antonio Delgado, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Woonsocket has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Cumberland, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Woonsocket will be playing at home against Central at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven contests -- so hopefully Woonsocket likes a good challenge. As for Cumberland, they will head out on the road to square off against East Providence at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. East Providence has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
