This season hasn't been kind to the Fike Demons, who are still winless after their fifth matchup. They fell 61-54 to Beddingfield on Friday. While losing is never fun, Fike can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 563rd, while Beddingfield is ranked 162nd).
Several Demons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was William Monk, who scored 18 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds. The game was Monk's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Dylan Skinner, who scored 10 points.
Fike's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Beddingfield, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-1.
Fike will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against West Johnston at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully West Johnston focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday. As for Beddingfield, they will head out on the road to face off against Greene Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Greene Central has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
