The Fort Gibson Tigers''s game last Thursday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They won a game that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Sallisaw 49-48. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Parker Lockhart was the offensive standout of the match as he threw for 256 yards and four touchdowns on only 15 passes. Fort Gibson also got a significant boost from Judd Rudd, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 104 yards.
Brock Streun and Cole Stephens certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Streun rushed for 161 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry, while Stephens rushed for 130 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. Streun hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Broque Oft, who rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown.
Fort Gibson's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Sallisaw, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.
Fort Gibson will be playing at home against Hilldale on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Oklahoma (Hilldale is ranked 115th, while Fort Gibson is ranked 124th). As for Sallisaw, they will head out on the road to face off against Madill on Friday.
