Basketball Recap: Central Catholic Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Central Catholic extended their winning streak to five on Saturday, bumping them up to 21-3. They ended the year with a bang, routing the Holy Cross Knights 53-33. The Buttons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 20 points or more this season.

As for Holy Cross, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-7. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 496th, while Central Catholic is ranked 92nd).

Despite the loss, Holy Cross saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Gabriel Ramirez posted seven points and eight boards.

Central Catholic has already played their next game, a 55-38 win against Madison on the 30th. As for Holy Cross, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 74-63 victory against John Paul II on the 2nd.
