Jefferson-Morgan is 9-1 against Mapletown since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. Jefferson-Morgan proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 20) but on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Avella and snuck past 55-53. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Jefferson-Morgan has posted yet this season.
Jefferson-Morgan found their leader in underclassman Dayten Marion, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 rebounds. Marion is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. John Woodward was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Mapletown lost to West Greene on the road by a decisive 54-39 margin on Wednesday. Mapletown has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The win makes it two in a row for Jefferson-Morgan and bumps their season record up to 11-6. As for Mapletown, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.
Jefferson-Morgan didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Mapletown in their previous meeting on January 3rd, but they still walked away with a 40-36 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jefferson-Morgan since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
