The New Castle Trojans will take on the Franklin County Wildcats at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Franklin County took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on New Castle, who comes in off a win.
New Castle took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over Anderson. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won five in a row.
Emily Wells spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kattie Mathews, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged three or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Dobbs, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Franklin County didn't have quite enough to beat Connersville on Thursday and fell 3-2. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Brooke Stang made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Franklin County's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for New Castle, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
New Castle's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's game. The Trojans have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Franklin County, though, as they've been averaging only 1.4 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will New Castle continue to outrun the ball?
New Castle couldn't quite get it done against Franklin County in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 as they fell 8-5. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
