The Niceville Eagles proved they can win big last Monday (they won by 29) but on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Gulf Breeze 56-53. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Niceville has posted since December 2, 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Niceville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Anna Kimball, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Kiyah Hatcher, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Niceville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Gulf Breeze, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Niceville and Pace will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Pace comes in on four and Niceville on five. As for Gulf Breeze, they will head out on the road to square off against Crestview at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Crestview will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 208th, while Gulf Breeze is ranked 63rd).
