It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Fruitdale Pirates can now relate to. They were outmatched by the Demons on the road and fell 88-17. The defeat means Fruitdale is still on the hunt for the season's first 'W'.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Fruitdale struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as McIntosh racked up 14 assists.
McIntosh's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brittney Reed Jr., who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 17 rebounds. Reed Jr. has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more rebounds the last 13 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dristen Sullivan, who scored 19 points along with three steals.
Fruitdale's defeat was their 20th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-21. As for McIntosh, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 23-4.
Fruitdale does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for McIntosh, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Leroy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in McIntosh's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
