Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Conner

Conner won the last time they faced Dixie Heights and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Colonels. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by six runs or more this season.

Bayli Bell tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Averie Lightner and Kayla Ortiz did most of the damage at the plate: Lightner went 2-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs, while Ortiz went 3-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most hits Ortiz has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexa Hamilton, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Conner, bringing their record up to 19-9-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Dixie Heights, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-13.

Coming up, Conner will host Campbell County at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Dixie Heights, they are taking a road trip to challenge Lakota West at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
