Lonoke extended their winning streak to three on Monday, bumping their season record up to 16-7 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Des Arc Eagles. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Jackrabbits have posted since March 15th.
Kendra Terry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Kirsten Holt was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Shaniya Jackson was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Lonoke always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Des Arc only posted an OBP of .389.
As for Des Arc, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-8. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games.
On Des Arc's side, Emma Buckner put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Buckner a new career-low in earned runs (zero). She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs.
Buckner wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Elajah REEvEs, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Another was Grace Knight, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Coming up, Lonoke will head out on the road to challenge Southside at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Jackrabbits 4, the Southerners 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Des Arc, they will welcome Palestine-Wheatley at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
