The Hammond Central Wolves stacked an 11th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They breezed by Hobart on the road to the tune of 66-36. The victory was nothing new for Hammond Central as they're now sitting on five straight.
Hammond Central got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kennedy Blakely out in front who shot 6-for-13 from beyond the arc and almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine rebounds. Blakely hasn't dropped below four steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Indiah Hutchinson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Hobart's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Riley Weber, who scored six points along with five rebounds and two steals, and Taylor Pope who scored five points along with five rebounds.
Hammond Central has been performing well recently as they've won 14 of their last 17 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. As for Hobart, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-16.
Hammond Central's road trip will continue as they head out to face East Chicago Central at 5:00 p.m. on January 31st. Hammond Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully East Chicago Central likes a good challenge. As for Hobart, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Wheeler at 2:00 p.m. on January 27th. Hobart is coming into the contest with four straight defeats at home, meaning Wheeler will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory.
